This B&B, a converted schoolhouse nestled in the Norwegian mountains, offers a uniquely warm and homely atmosphere. Guests consistently praise the exceptional service from the owner and staff, the delicious breakfasts, and the profound quiet of the natural surroundings. It feels less like a hotel and more like a visit to a friend's or grandmother's house.
The atmosphere is consistently described as warm, homely, and having 'incredible vibes', feeling more like a visit to a friend or grandmother's house than a hotel.
“The entire hotel feels warm and homely, almost as if you are staying at a friend’s house rather than a hotel.”
“Original place - an old school in the middle of the mountains that the owner himself once visited. The rooms are originally furnished - you don't feel like you're in a hotel, but rather like you're visiting your grandmother.”
“The place has incredible vibes, rooms are spacious and comfortable.”
Some rooms offer a terrace with mountain views, providing a calm and relaxing outdoor space.
“The terrace with a mountain view was also a wonderful experience.”
“The room is big and comfortable clean organized and it has a mountain view where u can sit outside and enjoy the amazing view , very calm and relaxing, robert was very kind and welcoming, helped us alot and answered our questions about our trip to trolltunga, he cared to prepare our breakfast as we like which is a big plus!!”
The hotel is located at the head of Fjæra fjord, with boat trips available to a nearby waterfall, indicating proximity to water.
“Lovely staff & a unique location at the head of Fjæra fjord (there are regular I hour boat trips to see a very large waterfall).”
“Close to the nature”
The hotel is noted for being quite remote, with no nearby restaurants or supermarkets, and the nearest city being a half-hour drive away. Public transport is limited.
“there is nothing nearby, you need a car and the nearest city with some restaurants is half hour away.”
“When getting there, you should be aware that naturewise options in the surroundings are limited. We found other hiking areas more enjoyable. Folgefonna nationalpark is only accessible after a long hike. Langfossen waterfall can only be reached via a noisy country road. Given the local bus schedule, a transfer to Trolltunga can only be arranged with your own car or a private transfer (OddaBus or OddaTaxi service). There is no direct connection and no bus before 1 pm to Odda. For us, that was a bit surprising. Also, there is no supermarket close by.”
“Location is not for normal traveller’s with city touring and fun, not able to find restaurants or supermarkets in 20 minutes range”
Reviewers explicitly mention the place as 'extra quiet' and 'very calm and relaxing', indicating a peaceful environment.
“The place is extra quiet and the breakfast is amazing”

The shared bathroom facilities, including a communal shower room that can be locked by other guests, and the need to cross a basketball court for nocturnal toilet trips, suggest a lack of private facilities.
“It’s not a criticism, but be aware that the previous role of the building makes it unusual. A nocturnal trip to the toilet involves walking across the basketball court…”
“there are several common bathrooms but just one is good for showering.”
“Unfortunately, some guests lock the door to the communal shower room. As a result, it is not possible to shower at times. Partition walls could help to ensure their privacy while enabling others to take a shower.”
